My goal with massage has always been to make a sincere difference in the way people feel in their bodies, to their particular agenda. A couple years into doing massage, working in local spas and in private practice, I saw a need in Portland for a studio where Therapeutic Massage was the primary focus; where each massage session truly made a difference in the way your body functions and feels. In 2004, I created Dynamic Therapeutic Massage. I consistently receive amazing feedback about the quality of bodywork clients receive in our care. The therapists that contract with Dynamic are some of the best in Portland, truly. I hope your experience at Dynamic Therapeutic Massage exceeds your expectations!

Sincerely,
Jasmin

I personally came to bodywork from a strong background in traditional martial arts. I accredit my tuned intuition and body mechanics to these studies in movement. I love to move and challenge my body.

In 2002 I graduated from East West College of Healing arts, with a training focused in Deep Tissue, Sports and Integrative Massage. Since my training I have continued to expand my knowledge in bodywork through classes and workshops, even taking the opportunity to study Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

More recently, I have entered a whole new world, Motherhood. Pregnancy, birth, and parenting have challenged my body (and my bodywork) in new, and exciting ways. My massage practice has also opened up to include Infant Massage Instruction.

*As of October, 2009, I am on maternity leave. I will be spending time with my eldest daughter, while expecting the arrival of her little sister In November. I tentatively plan to return in Spring of 2010.

I moved to Portland in 2001 after receiving my BA in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz. I was born and raised in Oakland, CA but I consider Portland my real home. I live here for some of the same reasons many other people do, it’s close proximity to the mountains, the coast, the desert, and all the activities these places have to offer.

In my spare time I enjoy hiking, biking, camping, backpacking, swimming, reading, cooking and spending time with my beloved friends. It is my love of outdoor activities that inspired me to become a massage therapist. In 2000, while living in Telluride, Colorado I tore my ACL while snowboarding. The reconstructive surgery and the following six months of physical therapy taught me an invaluable lesson about what it is like to loose your mobility. Following the surgery I was in pain, depressed, frustrated and angry. It was a very tough journey both emotionally and physically. I could not have made that journey without one very special person, my Physical Therapist at Kaiser, Oakland. She made me feel safe, supported and motivated to do the hard work necessary to regain my mobility and strength. Her role in my life was inspirational.

In 2005 I graduated from East West College of the Healing Arts. My goal is to help people regain optimal function of their bodies and to help them tune into the mind-body connection. I would describe my style of massage as deep, therapeutic, focused and thoughtful. I combine deep tissue techniques with sports massage which I find to be, not only very effective, but also very relaxing and pleasurable.

Whether you have specific areas that need focused work or you just want to relax and reconnect with your body, I encourage you to begin the healing process by receiving massage at Dynamic Therapeutic Massage.

I have always been fascinated with the body and how it works, moves and heals. Growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, I started playing sports at a very young age. Although I enjoyed all sports, it was basketball that I excelled at. I was lucky enough to receive a scholarship to play basketball at a small university in northern Montana. It was there that I earned a degree in Physical Education and Health.

Through my studies of the body and physical activity, I knew I wanted to be more involved in the healing process, and in nurturing of the body. In 2003, I decided to attend Utah College of Massage Therapy. The invaluable knowledge that I received at UCMT has given me the opportunity to practice body work in many different environments, including spas, studios, clinics and Hospice.

My massage techniques include: sports massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point and Swedish. All techniques are integrated and adjusted for each individual's specific needs. The goal of my massage is to bring balance to the body, reduce stress, eliminate pain and tension, and promote body awareness and healing.

Being new to Portland, I am impressed daily with the pride and care that Portlanders take in this great city. I feel very fortunate to be here, and to have the opportunity to continue my practice of massage therapy with this exciting team at Dynamic.

I received my training at the Desert Institute of Healing Arts in Tucson, Arizona.  My education emphasized medical massage, including massage for people with cancer and injury rehabilitation.  Since graduating in 2005, my eagerness to continue learning led me to complete a 550-hour program in Zen Shiatsu, which helped to further awaken my intuition and energetic sensitivity.  In my massage/shiatsu practice, I have worked with a wide variety of ailments, from depression and insomnia, to fibromyalgia and chronic migraines, successfully providing much needed relief to these clients.  I have done tons of bodywork on bikers, from racers to everyday commuters. I also spend a lot of time on a bike myself, so I feel that this is a particular area of expertise for me.

I got into doing bodywork because I have a strong interest in health and an equally strong impulse to nurture life.  I believe the human body is an amazing, wise, sacred miracle.  That is what makes my work meaningful to me.  I really do believe that, “If you haven’t got your health, you haven’t got anything.”

Some of my favorite activities are riding my bike, dancing, baking, camping, star gazing, and truth seeking.  Biking is a big part of my life, and a bike-friendly city in addition to ecological consciousness and alternative medicine in the mainstream is what originally attracted me to Portland.

I recognize the role of stress reduction in preventative care and health maintenance.  I am also an advocate of massage for pure relaxation and enjoyment.  My approach to bodywork is to support the body’s innate ability to heal itself, and the mind’s ability to enjoy the present moment.  I facilitate healing with a soothing, intuitive touch and a deep respect for body wisdom.

My love of bodywork came through my deep interest in the art of anatomy.

I moved to Oregon from Wales in 1996 after completing a BA in Fine Art, painting and printmaking. I joined a collective printmaking studio here, and explored further into anatomy through intaglio printmaking - a process involving lines etched and incised into copper plates, the resulting image is then transferred onto paper using a printing press.

This curiosity and enthusiasm for the structure of the body led me to study Massage at East West College of Healing Arts. After graduating in 2003 I continued to learn more about Sports and Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy; and brought all of these things together in Biodynamic Massage through an apprenticeship with its developer, Todd Jackson, LMT.

Biodynamic massage is just this, connecting with deeper pressure to fascia and muscle tissue, while listening to the energetic changes that occur in response throughout the body, and facilitating the unwinding of long held patterns of tension and stress. Often a significant amount of time is spent working with deep pressure on a particularly dense or potent point. I will stay with this place until there is a felt change in the tissues, listening to and following the developing expansions or contractions, movement or stillness of the body, sometimes assisting the limbs into any stretches or positions of ease that emerge.

This is particularly good for specific problem areas of pain, spasm or tightness. When needed, I work with just one area of the body for the entire session, in order to take the amount of time necessary to go deeply into the issues presented and encourage a healthy and lasting improvement.
